Everest eStorefront Release Schedule |

With all of the discussion around Everest 5.0.3 and the revised eStorefront, we want to keep our customers informed about the development progress, the available training and the early release opportunities. .
Development Progress
We recently focused our development effort on two near term objectives: (1) provide fixes for all known bugs (non-eStorefront)—this resulted in the 5.0.2 release—while (2) simultaneously improving the architecture, performance, and usability of the updated eStorefront slated for the follow-on 5.0.3 version. After speaking with many customers and reviewing the earlier versions, we have revised the release date to ensure completion and quality of the added enhancements. The managed availability of Everest 5.0.3 is now tentatively scheduled to begin on December 10th with the official release following soon after. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but feel it is in the best interest of all customers to release the best possible product.
Available Training
To help get your eStorefront site running as quickly as possible after the 5.0.3 release, you can begin preparation now by adding any data necessary to take advantage of the new features. If you have not already done so, please visit the Cyber Theater located on the Everest Support site. There are videos available for you to view on the eStorefront Standard and Professional versions. Additionally, the details of each feature are available in the Everest eStorefront Training Guide and User Guide located in the Documentation section of the support site. Please feel free to post questions about features on the Everest Community Forums, where our eStorefront team can respond for the benefit of all customers. As we approach the managed availability date, additional self training materials will be made available to help those who want to customize the look and feel of their site.
Alpha Opportunities for Everest 5.0.3
Early versions of Everest eStorefront 5.0.3 are already in the hands of several customers and we have received positive feedback on the flexibility of the design and functionality. If you are interested in joining the early adopters and providing feedback that will help the Everest community, please contact your Account Manager and request to be added to the eStorefront alpha list. |

It contains fixes that are designed to correct known issues including the identified malware exploits and to improve the overall functionality of Everest 4.0.2. We strongly

GROWTH is greatly facilitated through the new Everest eStorefront; it has been designed to attract new customers by providing the kind of high-end shopping experience encountered at the largest online or multi-channel retailers. eStorefront is full of functionality to help keep customers on your site longer and buy more from you. Some customer retention features have been added such as gift cards and gift receipts.
Streamlined operations is another major benefit of Everest 5.0. Merchants selling apparel, footwear or any product with multiple variations will benefit from the new item matrix and advanced style maintenance capabilities. Warehouse operations can be improved with new tools for receiving and fulfillment. Accounting procedures have also been simplified and automated to save you time.
Better business management and increased efficiency is now possible with enhanced dashboards, query builders, reports and audit trails providing more real-time visibility and control.
We are very excited for our existing customers with an active maintenance plan to begin the upgrade process to the new version.
In anticipation of heavy demand for the new release, we need to schedule the availability of Everest 5.0 through download details and a service request form. This will allow our customer support team to continue providing a consistent level of excellent service to everyone.

In our continued effort to improve, we are excited to announce the 2008 Everest Maintenance Plan changes for our direct customers which include many new benefits that maximize the value of your maintenance plan.
New Benefits Include:
- Ability to report technical issues without having to pay for an incident
- Track your open issues on the customer support site
- Communicate via e-mail with support teams in reference to your incidents
- Automatic renewal of your plan with options for easy installment payments
- Basic "how to" assistance
- And more…
Automatic Maintenance Renewal
With the new automatic renewal provisions, your investment in Everest will stay protected against support interruptions at inopportune moments. Your maintenance plan will now automatically renew on the anniversary date of your plan. As part of the improved auto-renewal process you now also have the option to spread the annual renewal fees over three (3) equal monthly installments provided we have a completed maintenance Charge Card Authorization in our file. To take advantage of the payment installment option please contact your Account Manager.
Price Change
In our industry, the cost of providing excellent support has continued to rise over the years. Nevertheless, we have tried very hard to maintain our fee structures well below industry averages without sacrificing the quality of support we provide. In fact, the last increase to maintenance fees was over three (3) years ago. Unfortunately, with the continued increases in investments that allow us to deliver improved services and products, there is a slight fee increase effective on your current maintenance anniversary date.

Customers using v4.0.x can upgrade to the new release immediately by downloading the setup files from the Downloads section of the support website and following the steps defined in the Upgrade Instructions.
Customers using v3.0.1 must first run the Database Verification Utility before starting the upgrade process. The purpose of this utility is to check the integrity of customer databases and identify issues that must be corrected prior to upgrading to v4.0.2.

An issue has been reported on Everest Advanced 4.0.2 that may affect some of our customers who use Everest Ecommerce. In some Ecommerce environments, the site may clear the shopping cart when a “returning” web shopper clicks on the check out button. The web shopper can add the items back again to his shopping cart and the second time the items do not get dropped from the cart.
We have identified the issue and our Support teams have a temporary fix available for affected customers. We are actively working on including this fix in our next public service pack release. In the meantime, you may contact support if you are on 4.0.2 with Ecommerce and require a temporary fix. |

Everest 5.0 Project Renamed to Everest 4.0.2 and Content Revised |

Based on customer feedback during the beta of our Everest 5.0 project, we have re-assessed the projects potential impact to our customer base. We are happy to announce our decision to revise its content and rename the release to Everest Advanced 4.0.2 to achieve the following:
Easier Upgrade Path
The Everest 4.0.x platform was released less than 6 months ago. Many of our customers have not had the opportunity to upgrade from Everest 3.0.1. The change allows customers still using Everest 3.0.1 to upgrade directly to the Everest 4.0.2.
Backward Compatibility of System Requirements
System requirements for Everest 4.0.1 and Everest 4.0.2 will remain the same. Unlike the original project, Everest 4.0.2 will continue to support SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 as well as Windows 2000 and 2003 Operating Systems. Upgrades to Windows 2003 and SQL 2005will not be required.
Continued Support of Everest v3.0.1
Everest Sunset Policy is to support only two major versions of a product. This allows our development and support teams to continue to focus resources on versions 3.0.1 and 4.0 which have a high rate of adoption by users.
More Robust Platform
Releasing the project as 4.0.2 allows us to get our most robust product to our customer and allows our partners to take advantage of the expanded SDK.
We anticipate the general availability of Everest 4.0.2 in late September with managed availability to start August 14th. We are very excited about Everest 4.0.2 as it will be the foundation for our next generation of features that will be developed using agile techniques; this will allow us to respond to the needs of our customers faster than ever before.
How can I participate in the managed availability?
Customers interested in participating in the managed availability for Everest 4.0.2 should request an invitation by sending a message to pkennedy@everestsoftwareinc.com before August 10.
Customers that requested an invitation for Everest 5.0 do not need to make another request. You will automatically be considered for the managed availability of Everest 4.0.2.
So that we can work closely with the customers that participate in this program, we are only sending a limited number of invitations. Customers invited to participate in the program will be contacted so that we can review program details and plan the upgrade.

Database Verification Utility Access |

We have streamlined the process for requesting the Database Verification Utility. Customers completing the 4.0.1 Download Request form are now given a link to download the utility immediately after completing the form. A confirmation e-mail is also sent to customers completing the form with links to the utility as well as other resources we have available to help the migration process go smoothly.
Customers that are upgrading from Everest 3.0.1 must run the Database Verification Utility. This utility will confirm your database is compatible with new database rules we added in version 4.0.1. If the utility detects issues that it cannot correct automatically, a log file will be created that must be reviewed by our support team. Instructions for using the utility are included with the download.
Customers that are already using Everest 4.0.0 can get the latest version by going directly to the Downloads section of this website. There is no need to request the download or run the database verification utility. |
